Sandra's Caregiver Story

Sandra's Caregiver Story

Kevin-Mom1.jpg

This the story of my youngest brother Kevin Slaney and how for the past 3 years he has stepped up to become our Mother's primary caregiver. Mom had complicated surgeries that ended in her right leg being amputated. She's been in and out of hospital with infections and most recently came out of palliative care in hospital to be palliative at home. Kevin lives with our mother and has dedicated his life to making her life more bearable. He's a young, fit, athletic man with the biggest heart. He loves his mother/family beyond all else. He doesn't see much of his friends, as he is so very dedicated to taking care of our Mom. We all help out when we can, for example I stay over one night a week (so Kevin can get a good night's sleep) plus I go up one night a week to also cook for them. I do feel my brother Kevin has the lion's share of the caring and doesn't he just do it all effortlessly and with love. I love him beyond words and am so very proud to call him my Brother.
